About

Jude Allman

I'm a studio potter based on the Isle of Wight in the UK. I make stoneware pottery influenced by a modern rustic style. I enjoy making jugs, mugs, bowls, vases and other homeware items which I decorate using simple glaze combinations.

I throw all my pots by hand on an electric wheel using stoneware clay and fire them in my electric kiln. Working from my own studio I make small batches of pots (10 or 20 at a time) which allows me to explore fresh forms and develop my individual range of designs. My aim is to make authentic handmade pottery that people enjoy using in their homes everyday.

Why 'Pots and Paint'...?

If you're wondering why this blog was originally called 'Pots and Paint', well I started off as a painter! I've been painting for many years using pastels and acrylics, taking part in local exhibitions and selling private commissions since 1990. When I began this blog back in 2009 the pots had already started taking over - and now I mostly paint in my spare time. Occasionally I still blog about my latest painting - but only if I get around to doing one!
